Warriors: Into the Wild

By Erin Hunter

A house cat crosses into the forest, joins a clan of wild warrior cats, and learns their world runs on loyalty, battle, and a killer hiding in the ranks.

Rusty is a well-fed house cat who can't stop staring at the forest past his yard. One night he crosses the fence and meets ThunderClan, wild cats who live by a strict warrior code, hunt for every meal, and fight rival clans over territory. They offer him something he never expected: a chance to train as an apprentice. He takes it, gets a new name, Firepaw, and swaps his warm, easy life for a hard one. Then he notices what the older cats don't, that someone inside the clan is a traitor. It's a full society of cats with names, ranks, ancestors, and old feuds, and the series runs for dozens of books.

One of the biggest series a child can fall into starts here. The Warriors world spans several arcs and dozens of books, and readers who bond with it disappear for months. It gives a saga-hungry reader everything at once: an invented cat society with its own laws and legends, an outsider hero who has to earn his place, clan politics, and life-or-death stakes from the first book. It's the most warlike book on this trail, which is the whole draw for an action-seeker, and it's why the heads-up below matters. If your child clicks with the clans, they have an enormous world waiting.
