The best prankster in town moves to the most boring town in the country and finds someone already pulling off the greatest prank he's ever seen.
Miles Murphy was the undisputed prank king of his old school. Then his family moves to Yawnee Valley, a sleepy town whose one claim to fame is that it has more cows than people. Miles plans to take over as the new school's top prankster, but someone is already there, pulling off pranks so brilliant he can't work out how they're done. First the two are rivals. Then they join forces to take on the pompous Principal Barkin.
This is the step up from comics into a real chapter book, and it keeps the two things a Captain Underpants fan is there for: elaborate pranks and a blustering principal who has it coming. Kevin Cornell's drawings break up every few pages, the chapters are short and fast, and the pranks are clever, so a child gets the fun of trying to solve how each one was pulled off.
