Stella's class is having a Mother's Day party, and she has two dads, so she has to figure out who to bring.
Stella's class is throwing a Mother's Day celebration, and Stella has a problem: she has two dads and no mom. When her classmates ask who packs her lunch or reads her bedtime stories, Stella has answers for every one, her Daddy, her Papa, her uncle, her aunt, her grandmother. So when the big day comes, she doesn't bring one mom. She brings her whole family, all of them, and it turns out that's exactly right.
It takes a small, real worry, a holiday party that assumes every child has a mom, and lets Stella solve it herself in the happiest way. There's no villain and no big fuss about her two dads; the whole class turns out to have all sorts of families. For a child in a family that doesn't match the standard picture, this is a mirror. For everyone else, it's a warm, easy window.
