A rhyming read-aloud that greets a whole class as a family — a place where you belong, mistakes are okay, and everyone looks out for one another all year long.
There's no plot here, and that's the point. It's a warm, rhyming welcome spoken straight to the children in front of you: this classroom is a place where you belong, where making a mistake is okay, where kindness is the rule, and where the teacher has your back. The pictures follow a bright, mixed group of children learning together, helping one another, and working things out. By the last page, a room of near-strangers from that first morning has a name for what they're becoming: a family.
A working teacher wrote this for exactly this moment, so it asks nothing of you: open it, read the rhyme, and it does the community-building on its own. There's no conflict to steer and nothing to brace for, which makes it an easy pick for a substitute or a nervous first-week teacher facing a room of children they don't know yet. And by naming the feeling you want in the room — safe, included, looked-after — it hands everyone the same words to reach for later in the year.
