The first official Minecraft novel: someone wakes up alone in the blocky world with no memory of who they are, and has to learn how it works to stay alive.
A castaway wakes up thrashing in the water off a strange island where everything is made of blocks, with no memory of who they are or how they got there. From there it's all survival: punch a tree for wood, build a shelter before the sun goes down, learn the hard way not to dig straight down. Each chapter is one more problem solved and one more rule figured out, talked through by the narrator as they go. A child who plays Minecraft will read this nodding along, because they already know exactly why you don't want to be caught outside after dark.
If you've got a child who's read every Minecraft guide but never sat down with a whole novel, this is the one I'd hand them. It doesn't feel like leaving the game, it feels like playing it in their head. The chapters are short, something is always happening, and the world is one they already know cold, so there's no slow warm-up to sit through before it grabs them.
