The LEGO Ninjago origin story in an easy reader: four young ninja learn Spinjitzu from a wise master to stop a skeleton army and a masked villain.
A blacksmith's son named Kai has his workshop wrecked and his sister Nya snatched by a rattling army of skeleton warriors, all working for the masked Lord Garmadon, who is hunting four golden weapons. An old master, Sensei Wu, takes Kai in and starts training him and three other young ninja in Spinjitzu, a spinning martial art that lets them whirl into action. Kai has to master it fast enough to get his sister back. It's the launch point for the whole Ninjago world your child probably already knows from the sets and the show, packaged as a short, bright, easy-to-read book with plenty of pictures.
This is the one that gets a Ninjago-obsessed child reading with almost no resistance, because the book is about exactly what's already living in their head. The reading level is easy, the pictures do a lot of the work, and the story is the origin, so it's the natural place to begin the mountain of Ninjago books that follows. If your child will only read about things they already like, that isn't a problem to fix here, it's the whole plan.
