They cover eggs and sperm, how a body makes them, how a baby starts, what pregnancy is like month by month, and being born. The book explains sex directly, in plain words and comic-style pictures a seven- to ten-year-old can follow, and it does it warmly, with a lot of humor along the way.
It's written for the younger child whose questions have already gotten past the stork answer, and it gives them real information at a scale they can handle. The tone is direct without being clinical, and the bird-and-bee back-and-forth lets a child laugh at the parts that feel embarrassing, which takes some of the charge out of them. If you want to answer the where-do-babies-come-from question fully and on the early side, this is the one that does it rather than going halfway.
