At bedtime a polar bear cub asks Mama where she came from, and every answer comes back to the same thing: God gave her to them, and she was wanted.
It's bedtime, and a small polar bear named Little Cub wants to know where she came from. Mama answers gently, and every answer circles back to the same place: of all the wonderful things God made, He gave them her. Little Cub keeps pushing, one 'but what about...' after another, the way small children do at bedtime. Each question gets a patient, loving reply. The pictures are snowy and soft, the pace is calm, and the Christian heart of it sits right on the surface: this child is a gift, and she was wanted.
This is the one people reach for as a gift: a christening, a baptism, a dedication, an adoption day. It says the thing you most want to say to a small child, that they were wanted and are a gift, and it says it inside a warm, believing frame. Laura Bryant's snowy pictures make it a keepsake rather than something to be read a few times and given away. And since it's the first in a long series, a family that loves it has plenty more to grow into.
