A little girl asks her mom whether princesses can climb trees and get muddy, and the answer is a happy yes.
A curious child walks along asking her mother question after question: do princesses wear hiking boots, do they climb trees, do they get dirty, do they have freckles like mine? Each answer says that yes, a princess can be exactly the kind of girl who does all of that.
If your child loves the crown and the sparkle but is also all knees and mud, this tells them they don't have to pick. The rhyme rolls along easily, the pictures are warm, and it's the gentlest possible book on the shelf, nothing to brace for at all. A lovely bedtime pick when they want a princess without any adventure or danger.
