A toddler's first pile of dinosaur facts, in big bold colors and almost no words.
This is about as simple as a dinosaur book gets, and that's the whole point. Long ago there were dinosaurs, the book says, some big and some small, some with horns, some with spikes, some with long, long necks, and here they all are in bright, blocky colors a two-year-old can name and point at. At the very end they disappear, the way the real ones did, told in one calm sentence.
For a toddler who has just discovered dinosaurs, this hands them the whole cast with hardly any words in the way. Byron Barton draws everything in thick outlines and flat, bright color, so a child who can't read a word yet can still 'read' the pictures and tell you what's happening. And the endpapers name every dinosaur and show how to say it, which is exactly what a child who wants to know what each one is called is hungry for.
