The Construction Site trucks finish one last job on Christmas Eve, each unwraps a present of its own, and then they all settle down to sleep. A cozy holiday bedtime for the child who's wild about big machines.
It's Christmas Eve, and the crew of hardworking trucks — Crane, Bulldozer, Dump Truck, Cement Mixer, Excavator — has one more job to finish before the holiday: they're building a firehouse. When the work is done, each truck finds a present waiting, just the thing it was hoping for. Then, one at a time, they power down and drift off under the falling snow, while a little red truck slips quietly away into the night.
If you've got a child who only wants books with wheels, this is the holiday one made for them. It runs on the same slow, sleepy rhythm as Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site, so the trucks they already love get their own snowy Christmas and their own gifts. The rhyme is gentle and repeats in the way little ones like, and the machines are big and bright on every page. It slides right into the bedtime routine, which is really why it lives in the December rotation and not the toy box.
