Finn the human and Jake the stretchy dog wake up to find the Land of Ooo in trouble: the Lich, an ancient evil, is loose and literally swallowing up everything and everyone, from the Candy Kingdom to their own house. What follows is a fast, silly, big-hearted quest to set it right, with Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the vampire, and the whole gang along for the ride. It is the exact humor of the show, non-stop jokes, weird logic, and sudden bursts of sweetness, collected from the first four issues of the comic into one full-color book.
If your child quotes the show but calls reading boring, this is a stealth win. The pages are bright, loud, and packed with the same gags they already love, so it reads more like watching an episode than doing homework, and a reluctant reader tears through it. The jokes are dense enough that they will reread it, and there are stacks more volumes if this one lands. It gives a screen-loving child the thing they will actually turn pages for: their favorite characters, their favorite humor, in a format built for speed.
